The right perspective

This past week has been one of the most difficult weeks I've had in a while. Ben has had a lot of meetings and late nights, leaving me with longer periods of toddler time. In addition, Eliana has also been waking up around the 6 o'clock hour, and fighting naps and bedtime.

Several days this week I thought I might lose my mind. I was at the end of my rope and extremely exhausted. I needed adult time, free of toddlers. I spent a good part of the weekend with a lot of great women; Saturday at our church's women's group and Sunday at a friends wedding shower. And the time away was just what the doctor ordered!

Stress has been high in our house. Things with Peace Prep are getting busier by the day and sometimes complicating and exhausting. I know when it's all said and done it will be totally worth it, but right now sometimes it's taking it one hour at a time.

But with the hectic week also came some really good things. Some positive things with some family matters, good time with friends and a much needed break. When I think about my life I know I'm the luckiest girl in the world. My heart is filled with love and joy for so many things but especially my family. While Eliana may wear me out, my heart overflows with love for her and I could never imagine life without her. So as I go into another busy week I am reminded what really matters..

It's just the beginning

Thus far 2013 has had a rocky start for us. It seems there's some new and difficult news almost daily. I am hoping that this trend will be ending soon and things will start looking up. I am confident and hopeful that this year will also bring some really wonderful things with it as well.

Our month has been busier than ever. Peace Prep has a lot of paperwork deadlines approaching quickly so most of Bens spare time is spending writing pages and pages of logistics. It's been somewhat difficult with our schedules; Eliana and I miss him a lot. But we know once the petition is submitted in the next few months his schedule will be much more open.

The robotics team we coach has finally come to an end. The competition was in December and we advanced to the next competition which was held a few weeks ago. We did not advance on to state but we could not be more proud of how hard the kids worked and what an amazing job they did!!

Eliana is growing every day. She talks pretty much nonstop these days. She's a very sweet and loving little girl. She prays every night, usually for our friends Curtis, Katie, Michael and Laura. A few nights ago we couldn't find one of her favorite toys, a small plastic dog, that she takes to bed with her. After finally ending our search and going to bed without it, she repeatedly prayed for the dog before going to bed.

Eliana loves seeing airplanes fly in the sky, so we are excited to take her on a plane for the first time in a few weeks when we fly home to visit family. While I'm a little nervous of flying with an active toddler, I really think she's going to have a great time and I'm really happy to not be driving 13 hours each way! We are anxiously awaiting our trip!

Cabin Pictures 2012

Off to a rough start

Well, here we are 5 days into the new year and I've had the worst cold all week. Every day I think it will start getting better but just as one symptom subsides, a new one arises. I'm hoping now 6 days in that it will be passing soon. Unfortunately one of my job perks does NOT include is sick days off. Thankfully though it's been a somewhat slow week for us and Ben has really been able to help with her in the evenings.

Now as the holidays have come to a close things will be picking back up shortly. We were, however, able to enjoy some much needed quality time together for Ben's christmas break. The day after his last day of school we left for Missouri to visit with some of my family. We had a nice, relaxing few days in the country. Then we returned home christmas eve and spent christmas at home with just the three of us.

The day after christmas we left to go to a cabin in the north Georgia mountains with our friends, Katie and Curtis for four days. Somehow we managed to load the Honda Pilot up with 4 adults, 1 toddler, 2 dogs, a cooler, groceries, and luggage. To say it was a tight ride would be an understatement, but we managed nonetheless. Our cabin was absolutely wonderful!! It was right on the edge of a steep cliff overlooking the river. The back deck included a hot tub that also overlooked the river. We had such a great time and look forward to our cabin trip next year!

(While in Missouri, a house near my grandparents caught fire so we drove over to get some pictures
and watch! This sounds awfully mean, but don't fear, it was an unoccupied house and in a small
                                                       town, everyone comes to watch!)
